Review Buskers night in the public bar. Small stage in corner diagonally opposite from bar.

Usual buskers format - organisers start the night off with a few songs, then everyone gets a few songs/tunes... then around again, time permitting.

Review Mostly guest nights with pre-arranged support - occasional singers nights, but you need to book a slot in advance.

Upstairs room with a bar. Small stage area with good PA system and lights too! Attentive sound engineer does a great job.

This is a well-established and flourishing club with a friendly atmosphere, well organised, and has appreciative listening audience.

Review Singarounds in a separate room upstairs - re-charge your glasses downstairs during the beer break.

Friendly, welcoming atmosphere and a wide variety of performers. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit, and hope to return soon.

The above review was based on our visit to the previous venue, but we plan on visiting this friendly club in the Cross Keys as soon as we can get over to the North West.

Review Good sized upstairs room with stage at one end. On Singers Nights the stage is not used, and the usual singaround setup gives performers 2 songs/tunes to start with, going around again for more as time allows. Bar is downstairs.

Also see Allendale Village Hall for guest concerts.

Review A sort of open mic night where the regulars do their thing and visitors get a few songs too. The resident guitarist(s) and bongo player readily add their accompaniment to one and all.

Large room, so the PA is a necessary evil.

Gets very smoky as the evening wears on.

Review Sizeable back room with bar - No Smoking.

Hosted by The Young'uns (Hartlepool based folk trio). A very lively atmosphere as the room fills with performers and pubgoers. Singaround format. 1 song each (2 for duos), then a break, then around the room again until late.

Review Separate upstairs room with an active bar on guest nights - on singers nights you have to go downstairs for the drinks.

Well known and respected guest artists are booked. Singers nights very quiet, and need more performers and audience.

Review BBC2 Folk Club of the Year 2007

Held in the garden room (yes the big shed!), go into the pub for drinks.

Guests every week, so probably best to pre-book if you want a floor spot.

Friendly and attentive organisers and audience.

Review DIY workshops from 7:00pm. Folk Club starts at 8:30pm.

Singaround/playaround in a room in the Community Centre - no bar, but there is a coolbox and small fridge where you can purchase alcoholic and soft drinks. Friendly atmosphere - one song each around the room (duos get two) until time runs out.
