We always enjoy playing at the
Foggy Furze Folk Club in
Hartlepool - it is so friendly and welcoming, and we feel very much at
home there. The first two weeks in August are traditionally 'Factory Holiday Weeks' when a great many of the locals have their main holidays - something that hadn't occurred to either us or the organisers in late 2006 when they booked us. However, we needn't have worried... here's the text of the review from the club website: Despite it being peak holiday time with many of our members off enjoying the sun (?!) we had a good turn out for this months guest artists and good friends jiva. Jimmy and Val were at their very best this week as they performed a lovely variety of songs, some self penned and some by their favourite artists such as Richard Thompson and Allan Taylor. They performed their sets using some fantastic equipment and many members enjoyed drooling over their fabulous Taylor guitars. Their set was gentle and enchanting with some wonderful harmonies which made for a special guest night. jiva treated us to an extra special finale by performing a brand new song for the first time called "Best Friends" and we hope they thoroughly enjoyed their night as much as we did. We hope to see you both back at the Foggy Furze soon. And yes, we did enjoy the night - very much so... a good crop of floor spots from residents and visitors mixed with some good natured banter. Thanks to Guest Night MC Barry for a well run night ensuring we had time to do two full length sets (40 minutes each half): First Half:
Second Half:
Encore:
And, yes, we'll certainly be back soon. |
