The jiva sound spreads further - Kent and Surrey. What
better way to spend a week's holiday than singing in 5 new clubs and
taking in 2 Allan Taylor concerts? OK, the weather could have been kinder
- but we weren't really there for tourist 'sight-seeing'. As a base we rented a cottage a few miles outside Maidstone and, once unpacked, we set about making ourselves at home (re-arranging the furniture to cater for 4 guitars). Monday we were at the Beacon Folk Club near Tunbridge Wells for a singaround. Tuesday we did a pre-booked floor spot at Dartford Folk Club where Allan Taylor was the guest. Wednesday was another pre-booked spot at Faversham Folk Club where Tania Opland and Mike Freeman were guesting. Thursday was a singers night at Orpington Folk Club. Our last spot was at the Ram Folk Club in Claygate, Esher (BBC2 Folk Club of the Year 2007) - again with Allan Taylor headlining. All in all a good week, friendly and welcoming - we were well received and appreciated (we were especially pleased at how well our own material went down). Where next? Watch this space... |
