Well - we've done it again... TAS (Taylor Acquisition
Syndrome) is obviously incurable. So there's another beautiful guitar in
our collection - another Taylor, another 800 Series, another 12-string.
Yep, another 855. The 12-string is coming more to the fore in the jiva sound, sometimes normal tuning and sometimes with the 11th and 12th tuned down to D. Rather than re-tuning mid-set, we decided that a second 12-string would give us the flexibility to have them differently tuned. We're also experimenting with using both 12-strings together... and that's quite a prospect! This one came from the USA, bought online sight unseen - that's how confident we are in the consistently excellent build quality, sound and playability of Taylor guitars (and, in particular, the 800 series with Rosewood back & sides and Spruce top). After a nail-biting delay in Stansted while we paid the import duty and VAT it arrived at our door in excellent condition, and still in tune! The Expression System was retro-fitted by Taylor, so this guitar has their own state-of-the-art electronics and sounds as wonderful amplified as it does acoustically. Special thanks to Raymond Holly at sk8ter-boys for making our first US buy so successful. |
