King's Arms, Hale

Having decided to see Show of Hands at Ulverston, we spent a few days in the Lake District. On our first night there we went along to the Hale & Hearty Folk Club (see review) at the King's Arms in Hale, near Milnthorpe.

From 20:30 to 23:30 we were treated to a wide variety of singers and players in a singaround loosely themed on 'Spring'. We performed

  • The Windmills Of Blyth (well, we wrote it in the Spring of 2003!)
  • Bread And Fishes
  • No Telling
  • One More Song

It was great for us to finish the night for them, and they raised the roof singing multiple harmonies to our own 'One More Song'.

Thanks for an excellent night, only marred by finding that someone had scraped our car in the car park! We look forward to a return visit.
