A newcomer tonight with a difference - flugel horn player Gareth Jones (son of regular performer Keith Jones) entertained us with a couple of tunes... what next! Get down to Ashington Folk Club to find out.

It was the turn of
Mike Jessop to get the evening underway. He sang the Bruce Springsteen song 'If I Should Fall Behind' and then George Hamilton IV's 'Abilene'.

Congratulations to Diane Green who did very well at Rothbury Festival this year. Tonight she sang two traditional songs, 'The Crafty Maid' and 'Just As The Tide Was Flowing'.

Ellen Morgan sang the lovely Brian Willoughby & Cathryn Craig song 'Goodbye Old Friend' unaccompanied. Then, with guitar, she gave us the Irish song 'Red Is The Rose'.

Playing in open tuning
Keith Jones started with the traditional song 'One Morning In May'. He followed this with John Conolly's 'Punch & Judy Man'.

First Northumbrian piper of the night Alan Bailey played three tunes 'The Eriskay Love Lilt', 'Parnell's March' and 'Fanny Power'.

Finishing off the first half in style was Gareth Jones on the flugel horn. He played 'The 'A' Train' and 'The Skye Boat Song'. Let's hope he travels North again soon.

After the break Jack Hakin began with Merle Haggards' 'Okie from Muskogee' and then sang Roy Orbison's 'California Blue'.

Jim Slaughter began with a classical piece and then played the folk tune 'The Spinning Wheel'.

Northumbrian piper Ann Sessoms played a set of dance tunes; 'The Waters Of Holland', 'Argiers' and 'All In A Garden Green' and then a set of slip jigs; 'A Mall To Ride', 'The Peacock Followed The Hen' and 'Andrew Kerr'.

'Best Of My Love' from the Eagles was the first song for
Dave Anderson. He then played a brand new self-penned song 'For Love'.

More Cramlington residents took the stage as Ken and Jane Cross sang a medley of 'Last Night I Had The Strangest Dream' by Ed McCurdy and Paxton's 'Peace Will Come' accompanied by Dave Page.
