16th November 2006

In the Spotlight this evening was George Rosenthal who gave us a solo first half. He was  joined in the second part of the evening by Steve on guitar and vocals and Zak on bongos and vocals. Together they call themselves The Three Amigos! All good fun.

You can Listen to an mp3 Soundbite of each performer, and...

Spotlight performer George Rosenthal began in great style with John Prine's 'Hello In There' then Billy Mitchell's 'It Aint Over Till The Fat  Man Sings'. Changing style he continued with David Gray's 'Sail Way'; 'Caledonia' by Dougie McLean and 'The Lockkeeper' by Stan Rogers. He next moved onto 'Driftwood'  by Travis, then The Eagles 'Lyin' Eyes' which he followed with the Lindisfarne classic 'Lady Eleanor'.  Back  to Billy Mitchell with 'Can't Do Right For Doing Wrong' and finally he wrapped up a great first spot with 'One More Bottle Of Wine'.

To get the second part of the evening underway was Jack Hakin with two Don Williams songs - firstly 'The Shelter Of Your Eyes' and then 'It Must Be Love'.
5
Then it was the turn of Alex Okon who had acquired a transducer mic for his classical guitar - interesting sound. He played Ferdinand Corelli's 'Valze' and then Club favourite 'La Paloma'.

Possibly a first at the Club (possibly not - no doubt someone will correct us) this evening  Pat Yeowart was joined by son Ben on guitar. They gave us the Dylan song 'Oh Sister'.

George Rosenthal returned for his second spot joined by Steve and Zak - together known as The Three Amigos. They began with Neil Young's 'Harvest Moon' - moving swiftly on they sang the Paul Simon song 'Slip Slidin' Away'. It was Dylan again - this time 'I Shall Be Released' which they followed with 'Listen To My Heart'. Then came the classic Roger Miller song 'King Of The Road' followed by 'Black Magic Woman'. With cries for 'more' they encored with 'Hey Joe'. Thanks lads - it was great fun.
