6th July 2006

With windows wide open - well, it was very warm - we had a jam packed night of talent with a mixture of song, instrumental and the spoken word. 15 performers in all... phew!

You can Listen to an mp3 Soundbite of the performers.

1
It was the turn of John Campbell to get proceedings underway, which he did well with Dylan's 'Love Minus Zero (No Limit)' and then a medley of Dylan songs.

A couple of jaunty instrumental pieces next from Derek Greenacre who played Big Bill Broonzy's 'Guitar Shuffle' and his own 'Reivers Revenge'.

Jim Wigfield
sang two home grown songs - 'Happy Clappy Song' and because of "the warm feeling in the barn tonight" he finished with 'The Chicken Song'.

Looking very tanned from his recent holiday Jack Hakin was in good form with 'Before The Next Teardrops Fall' and then the lovely song 'Return To Me' which had him wandering around the room serenading all the pretty girls!

Tony Hamblin didn't bring his banjo (!) so sang unaccompanied and ended the busy evening with 'Betsy Surtees' and 'Pleasant And Delightful' which had us all joining in!

Next Spotlight...

John Campbell

20th July 2006

15 acts, 29 songs, tunes and a poem - that'll cost you just over 6p per performer or 3p per number... at just £1 admission (remember, 'It's In The Bag') it's great value.

Singers, Musicians & Poets nights are held on the 1st Thursday of every month, and there's more of the same but with extended Spotlight sets on the 3rd Thursday.

Hot? Yes!... Stuffy? No way!
The door is open - and so were the windows tonight.
