Diane Green got the night off to
a fine start with 'The Rose of Allendale', the chorus
being swelled by the audience. We hope to hear more of Diane
soon. |

2
Next was Tony Hamblin singing
traditional (and gory) songs and playing a deft banjo style.
|
|
3
First Northumrian piper of the night was Alan
Bailey giving us a lovely rendition of two popular tunes.
|
|
|
4
'Doc' John Campbell recently played as support on our Stony
Guest Night. Tonight he changed style and performed songs by Joni
Mitchell and Sandy Denny.

5
As usual,
Ann
Sessoms
delighted us with two sets of tunes - local and lively. It's great to
have Ann and Alan as regular pipers at the club. |

Fresh from his success as winner of the
Morpeth Gathering songwriting competition,
Ray Derrick played songs from his new 'Tyneside Retro' CD.
Eric Laverick joined him for a rousing finish to the first
half. |
|
7
Ann Lunam-Cowan kicked off the
second half with her poem 'One o' Them', reminding us that we all
change as we grow older. |
|
|
8
We all enjoyed club resident Pat Yeowart
singing unaccompanied versions of Dylan's 'Farewell Angelina' and
'Bernadette' by Leonard Cohen. |
|
|
|
|
9
What can be said about Ben Yeowart
except that he never ceases to amaze and amuse. Tonight's treat was a
Dylan song about wet clothes! |

Australian duo
Tin Can Alley finished the night
with a set combining fun, sadness, song, dance, guitar, ukulele and
even different languages. Wow! |
|
| The numbers
speak for themselves... 10 acts, 27 songs, tunes, poems. A great night's
entertainment. And still free! Be sure to come along and experience
Ashington Folk Club...Singers, Musicians & Poets Nights on the first
Thursday of every month. |
|
Thanks
to audience and performers for a great night. |
