Doug Wood
Doug's wife, Maureen, bought him a banjo when he retired - to keep him out of mischief, and because he said he loved the sound of it.
Years later (don't ask!) - and still loving that crisp, plinckety sound - playing the banjo and singing has almost become an obsession.
He is mostly into Old Time American folk music, and has collected a sizeable portfolio of Appalachian Mountain music, American Civil War songs, plantation songs and early Bluegrass material.
Doug has also written a few songs with a local flavour, and has put words to a number of Irish and American traditional tunes.
